Teaching the art of classical riding

Ham House Stables is a tranquil retreat for horse lovers and riders of all abilities. It has been owned and run by Minette Rice Edwards for over 44 years. We believe that learning the art of riding can be accessible to all, and give a lifetime of pleasure.

What we offer

We are a Five-Star Rated, ABRS approved stables offering classical dressage, jumping and groundwork lessons. We also offer a high standard of full and working livery.

Riding lessons

Our carefully tailored private lessons on well-schooled horses help riders establish an independent and balanced seat in the saddle. This, we believe, makes the learning experience joyful for horse and rider.

Full and working livery is available. This includes all care, daily schooling, exercise, and turn out.

Groundwork and in-hand lessons

Studying the horse when on your feet gives you greater insight of their movement and a deeper understanding of how to ride with more feel and harmony.

We have highly qualified and experienced instructors who teach with patience, empathy and understanding. In the stables, we have a wonderful team who give our horses every care and attention.

About Minette

Minette’s 60 years of teaching has evolved from her wide equestrian experience. She has successfully competed in dressage, showing, show jumping, eventing, endurance, flat and jump racing, in the US and UK.
